My friend Harsh made a trip to Africa recently. He took a fantastic series of pictures climbing up Mt. Kilimanjaro as well as on a Safari in the Serengeti National Park. I love this shot he took of a pack of elephants and the sun shining down on them. Click thru to see the full-size shot.
I expected to have most of the modifications done to my 335i by now but it’s taken a bit longer than expected. Since I posted last, I’ve gotten the suspension dialed in where I want it: raised the ride height a bit as well as stiffened up the compression/rebound on the dampers. I had a Kerscher Spirit front bumper and splitter installed as well as a rear spoiler (OEM clone). I’m still missing the tow hook cover for the front end. I actually got one painted and ready to go and then managed to push the little cover right thru the hole and it’s sitting inside the bumper now! I’ve got to get that taken care of and also getting the LUX angel eyes installed sometime soon. I’ll take some before and after pictures of the angel eye LED replacements as soon as I get the remaining work done. I used Daniel Cook over at Transparent Bra again to get a clear bra put on the front end to keep things neat and tidy!

I went to the Hillsborough Concours d’Elegance this weekend, it’s one of the oldest classic car shows in the country. I forgot to take my camera with me, so had to resort to the camera phone. One of my favorites was this old 1950s (I think, maybe 60s) era Corvettes. Look closely at the second picture, the owner had inserted a modern Corvette engine into the chassis, I think it’s an LS (LS2 or LS6?) engine so close to 400 hp. Not sure if the suspension had been updated, I think they would’ve frowned on my crawling under the car, but it sure looked like a blast to drive!

420hp? I think I need one.

I bought a new camera a couple months ago (Canon Powershot G7) and have been enjoying learning a lot about photography. We were down in LA over the holidays and my cousin took us to the Lake Shrine. I managed to take some interesting pictures even without using the tripod! ๐
Well, as you can see Steve Jobs evidently has good taste in cars. Autoblog says that he doesn’t have a license plate (allowed by California supposedly) because he’s had so many stolen cars. Interesting ๐
Another Audi enthusiast put up this great picture gallery site of different styles of rims on B6 Audis. Where was this when I was picking my rims??

There’s a new technique called HDR that many people are using to blend high-contrast photos together. As far as I understand, they are using multiple shots of the same scene at different exposures and blending them together to bring out an interesting visual. There is a flickr group dedicated to HDR shots here: http://flickr.com/groups/hdr/
