Windows Desktop Search 3.0 Beta 2
August 23rd, 2006
Microsoft quietly released an update to Windows Desktop Search 3.0 beta. I’m using Office 2007 Beta 2 on my work laptop and it required the use of WDS 3.0. There were two problems with this: 1) you no longer had a search box available on your task bar, and 2) the indexing performance was terrible! I’ve downloaded the update and am trying it out. According to Microsoft:
This release is an update to the Beta Engine Preview release of Windows Desktop Search 3.0. The most noticeable improvements include full Desktop Search UI, 64-bit support, and better performance.
If you’re interested in downloading the update, you can find it here.
